Getting an II from the same school two years in a row?

I got an interview at a school for the second year in a row. I also got an interview at a school that rejected me pre-II last year.

I got accepted to one that WL me last year and got 3 IIs from schools that rejected me pre II last year as well.

I was accepted to a school this year that was my only II last year. So i'm kind of biased towards them, since they technically showed me love two years in a row.

Sorry if it's an awkward question. The reason I asked is because so many schools and adcoms on here discourage applying two years in a row and advise to take another year to build the application and apply again. So it just seemed counter-intuitive for a school to offer an II two years in a row.

Med schools give that advice because too many applicants simply resubmit their applications without any Improvement.

For those people who make significant improvements during the course of the application cycle that fails, it can be prudent to reapply in the next cycle.

Sometimes an improvement might be something as simple as applying on time.

I know someone who has interviewed at the same school for two consecutive years followed by an immediate rejection. They were also invited to interview during this current cycle, which would make it their third at the same school. Little has changed in between application cycles.

Sometimes an improvement might be something as simple as applying on time.

I feel like applying on time is becoming less and less important because of how med schools are stratifying and organizing applicantions and the review process. And even more so because of the no-traffic rules than have taken on this year.

I’ve followed threads for a few schools and I see some people complete in October getting an interview in early December and someone else applying to the same school being complete in July getting an interview in January.

Although Pitt seems to be going in a strict timely order of reviewing apps as they come in. Totally love that.

I got back-to-back interviews from the same schools and accepted from one that waitlisted me last year... still waiting on one that interviewed but rejected me last year
