I'm an international student getting waitlisted on WCMC. Before their Feb acceptance came out I sent an letter of intent and got waitlisted. Is it unconventional to send a second letter of intent to a single school?

I've read threads saying that if you didn't get any other offers, LOI sounds like desperate measures. Cornell is the only school from which I received II in the US among ~30 schools I applied to (probably submitted secondaries too late, MCAT 523, GPA 3.77). However, I have acceptance from UniMelb and PUMC (in Beijing), so I think another LOI might be helpful before early May?

I'm also considering putting a LOI and update together. But this past semester I've been working on data analysis for a master's thesis and hasn't even got a preprint out. Should I add those information in this letter?

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated!

They know that you're interested, so I would not send another LOI without an update. If you have a material update to share, I would send it and BRIEFLY reiterate your interest in attending (i.e., a single sentence at the end of the letter).

This is advice for contemporary times which seem to have become hostile for international students, so I don't like to say this.

Take your other offer. Don't send an LOI in case you might have a lower priority due to the international student visa revocation happening. They may not have an answer from university legal yet. If they take you off the waitlist, that is a sign of confidence (but not a guarantee).

Prefer Melbourne because we don't have a forum about going to medical school in China as far as I know.
