So I am getting a good friend of mine who is a MD. I never got the chance to shadow him but he knows me on a personal level. Would that work has a MD LOR? or will it be weird that he is my LOR but I never shadowed him

thanks

I do but I don't think they will write me a LOR that's based on when I first started shadowing they straight up said don't expect a letter at the end 🙁

I have been excelling or at least i think I have but I they said its one of their rules apparently a lot of premed students ask to shadow expecting letters and so they decided no letters any one
I know its so messed up

The better question is how shady are you?

Note: Before I get bombarded with hate, this is a troll comment.

Find different doctors then

It is stuff like this which is why I am more for asking for a letter of recommendation before the shadowing experience. I would ask along the line of "I would like the shadow you Dr. X with the hope of earning a letter of recommendation from you in the future." It is a little presumptuous, but I feel it prevents any possible lets downs in the future.
