Please advise on the right strategy to get back into a residency program.

2012 DO grad. Passed COMLEX Step 1 and 2 on the first try with average scores.
Completed Prelim year at a University-based Allopathic program in 2013
and had to interrupt my training due to family reasons and temporarily relocate
overseas.

I am back home as of two months. Taking my COMLEX Step 3 in six weeks.
Working on my ERAS app and will submit it shortly. Looking at FM programs.

Other than applying broadly, doing well on Step III and explaining the reasons for the interruption in training, is there anything else that I should do to get back on track as
soon as possible?
Thank you in advance.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on any specific steps I should be taking at this
point in order to resume my training stat. Thank you.
The specific steps you should take are outlined in the 2nd paragraph of your question.

Nobody is going to take you as a PGY2 so you need to be starting from scratch.

50% of your PS should explain your absence from clinical training and what, if anything, you've done in the interim.

Apply to every program out there.

Good luck.
