I am trying to sell my house before I leave for Ross in August. I have a ton of floor (subfloor redo, carpet installation), painting and other stuff to do before. I need to get the house on the market mid-May and work starts May 6. I need to have all my furkids in foster care by then and while I have places for my 2 dogs and 1 of my cats, I can't find places for my other 4 cats. I have asked everybody I know, they have asked people, I have been pursuing every avenue I can think of for about 2 months to no avail. I am figuring they only have to have foster care until December when I get back and hopefully will have found long-term foster care or take them with me.

Does anybody have any ideas? Anyone local (metro DC but anywhere within a couple of hours will do) want to foster a kitty or two? I am really starting to freak about this. I can't have them around while trying to sell and I don't know what to do at this point.

Thanks for any thoughts.

What about long term boarding at a local kennel. Typically, if you explain your situation they will give you a reduced rate over their typical fees. Other than family or friends willing to help I cant think of much else. Id love to help, but Im in the same situation. I have to sell my house by June and move to GA. 😱:scared:

I could probably take one or two if you are willing to drive them out to Blacksburg. PM me if you like.

Here are pics of my kitties:

I'd offer, especially with Zeke and Neko...I have always wanted cats like that, but my shepherd harrasses cats that aren't willing to proactively use thier claws (she has some respect issues...young and dumb still.)

Don't be too fast to bash Craiglist!

From CL I have:

Gotten a great kitchen-aid mixer for cheap
Found a luxury condo to house sit for a school year
Found pet sitting jobs in very swanky homes
Hired help for moving

.. and entertained myself by making fun of personals

Sure there are weirdos, but there are also people like me who (as a vet student with thousands of clinical hours) are up for house/pet sitting. I was recently offered a downtown sweet condo all to myself for a month in exchange for taking care of a cat. The dates didn't work out since I'll still be in school, but there's good things to be found.
