Hello,
I am doing alright on topscore and Kaplan practice tests, but Destroyer is kicking my butt. I know its supposed to be harder to show you where you need work, but it has me worried. Do I need to have every equation memorized? Does anybody else have this issue? I only have two weeks left, and don't want to put off the test if I don't have to, but since starting destroyer I feel like I wouldn't be ready for months. ??? I like my topscore test scores, should I delay?

do everything but memorizing the questions. try to understand the concepts and the steps and logic behind every problem and solution. the destroyer will be a good tool for you only if you use it wisely and effectively for your STUDY and UNDERSTANDING not memorizing. for the bio section, use a quick reference book to look up things.

good luck !!!!

When using the Destroyer note that reading the solutions carefully prepare you in so many more ways than just reading the question and knowing the correct answer. Thats the beauty of this book--you get the explanation youre looking for AND THEN SOME. Keep banging away at it, let it kick your butt, and you'll even see your practice scores from other companies rise. Good luck.

Destroyer was meant to understand concepts not to be done as a test. Just make sure you understand the explanations

Don"t delay... simply keep on working on Destroyer and another material...

About memorizing, don't simply understand what you get wrong...

Certainly the Destroyer is there to teach us and like others said it was meant not as a test but as an educational tool...

Good Luck

Sunshiney,

I totally feel you when you say you are getting destroyed! It is all I can do to just read the explanations to the answers...I don't get even half the questions right...

I feel so overwhelmed when studying! There is sooooo much to study and I am getting to the point where there is very little time left.

Good luck, let me know if you come up with any good suggestions on studying!

Is getting half the questions right in each destroyer section considered decent?

I just got done with Bio and Gen Chem and got a little more than half right in both sections. I'm planning on going back to review the half that I didn't get right.

I totally agree with the difficulty part, some questions I know I've studied in my college classes, but others I have never even heard of!

Destroyer IS challenging but its GOOD, keep with it and try your hardest to understand the material. If you have questions that you dont understand, try calling Dr. Romano and he will explain it to you very cearly and thouroughly. Make sure you understand the bio, especially the last 20 or so Q because they relatre to things seen on the DAT most recently. Destroyer is the best investment you made so far in terms of DAT prep. GL!🙂

I have never heard of Destroyer-- I took the DAT last summer and studied w/ Kaplan, and I would like to raise my score... what is the destroyer book and where can I get it?? I only have a month to study and am stressed and need any material that is extra help!!!

If you only studied w/ kaplan the first time and weren't satisfied...Destroyer is the way to go

Theoretically, it shouldn't matter if you get all the questions wrong. Destroyer was meant to be a learning tool. It just approaches teaching in an unconventional, but very effective way. Really different from a traditional review book. Good luck!

Don't worry about it. I was getting so many wrong in the bio section that i took the book apart and separated the questions from the solutions because I got so tired of flipping back and forth! Just make sure you are understanding what youre getting wrong and if you need clarification just wikipedia or google search for more info. I was getting 15's on practice tests in bio and halfway through destroyer bio ive been getting 18's. Also, I think it would be crucial to go over destroyer once or twice again after the first time through to make sure the stuff isnt just in your short-term memory. Seriously...just keep at it and youll see how effective it is...i was frusterated as hell too.
