Anyone else using the paperback versions? My average is lower in BSS than Qbank...what % correct is considered strong performance?

You can't have a weak stomach when you go through BSS. I think it gives you an idea in the beginning of the book how you compare, something like 70% and higher being "substantial strength". These tests are quite a bit more difficult than Qbank, but it's worth it. By about two weeks remaining, I was getting around 65-70% and ended up with 99 on step 1.

Would either of you recommend BSS over Qbank in the last two weeks of study? I am hoping to be through with everything and have 10 days to review and thought of trying to get through BSS path and other questions along with FA and just abandoning Qbank at that point (I probably will have finished 75%+ by then + the Robbins Q book). Is BSS worth it if it is that late in the game?

I was wondering this myself. I've being going through it. Started with the Abnormal processes/Basic Science books but didn't like those too much. I was wondering if it'd be enough just to do the body systems books alone? I've been doing the questions by subject on the CD version (been doing the tutorial mode though so I don't really have a % score- I'm too "scurred" to take the test mode and find out:scared:

I have all 5 books, but decided to just do the Body systems books. I'm hitting 70% so I guess I should feel pretty good about that 🙁 I think I'm gonna do the books with the most high yield subjects. I'm starting on the GI, Kidney, Reproductive, Endocrine book. Once I finish that I'll start on the Heme, Cardio, Respiratory book.

IMHO these questions are waaaay better than Qbank. Seems to hit concepts much harder than random facts.

I gotta say working these Q's is well worth it. Initally I was getting depressed due to the difficulty level...however, sitting through a block of 50 on Qbank now is like a relaxing break🙄
My Qbank avg. has shot up 10% since I began BSS.

Would you recommend doing all of the systems based sections or just path? Are the other sections useful as as well? I woke up today and just felt DONE with the review books. I have 16 days left and am already kind of burned out so questions may be the way to go. Do you feel when you are done with a system that you got a good review of everything?

Yesterday I had a crazy run of about 500 BSS questions (I have the books but I prefer the CD because I don't have to flip back and forth between the questions and answers).

Some of the questions are total BS esoterica, but the physiology ones are great.

It's clear which one's Goljan had a hand in making since they emphasize many of the points he makes in his lectures and rapid review book.

But the questions are really hard - my average is around 70-something percent, and that's with a lot of guessing and elimination.

Are these books the same as the Board Simulator by LWW 2000 edition available for windows (computer)?
