hey everyone-
first, congratulations to all who matched today...
second, i'm a third year interested in psych and i keep hearing about how it has been getting more competitive in recent years. so basically, i'm wondering what the stats are of someone who matches into a good residency program...for all of you who just matched and for current residents, if you could post your stats (board scores, etc), it could give those of us who have yet to apply a better idea of what makes a good applicant...also if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!! thanks 😍

Having just gone through the match, and gotten my first choice when others who also ranked the same program didn't, I guess I might as well try to give you an idea from my point of view anyway - the scores and grades don't matter, really, except to get to an interview invite... my grades and scores were far worse than those who didn't match to my program, but I had a lot of other things going on - extra-curriculars, research, glowing letters... But, once the interview is offered, I think the stats don't really matter as much as the interviews - I have no idea if that's true, but it just sort of seemed that way... otherwise, I'm not sure how else to explain some of the matches witnessed at my school.

Good luck!

I'm going to second this thought since I didn't get invited to some places because of board scores (not great)- grades were middle of the class but I had tons of research and glowing LoR so I got some invites to some pretty prestigious programs. I got my number one choice too - and others like the above said with better scores than me didn't get theres - its all about where you fit in I think.

Good luck next year! Just be yourself, be HAPPY, and you'll do fine 🙂
