Yes and no, there are couple of threads where students got into NYU with great grades and others who had mediocore grades and stellar DATs and got in as well. I think you have to have a great personal statement and extra curricular activities to get an acceptance without an interview. try searching for NYU threads and see what students had when they got accepted without an interview.

i agree. personal statement is way more important than ppl think. the adcoms actually read them..they dont skim them or toss them in a big pile to collect dust
