What are my chances of getting an interview at one of the three Boston medical schools (Tufts, BU and Harvard). I got a 30 on my MCAT, and a 3.7 GPA from an ivy league school. I have good work and volunteer experience. However, I applied late (I took the August MCAT) and I received the notifications from these schools that my applications were complete at the end of November.
Thank you for the information in advance!

Your GPA is high and MCAT is competitive enough... I wouldn't be surprised if you hear from BU and Tufts... or even Harvard🙂. Good luck! I know Tufts interviews people until pretty late in the season. happy holidays!

I think it depends on which Ivy league school. Is it Harvard? 'Cause that might help. 😉

what if you have similar stats and you attend a big 10 school (3.6 sci and cum, 31 mcat)....i have heard that these boston schools are much more likely to talk to east coast private school students....

you are correct, at least in the case of Tufts, that the Boston schools LOVE the East Coast Ivy and private schools. However, anything can happen; I went to an East Coast state school (ACC), 3.62/29 and am now a second year at Tufts. There are also several people in my class who went to Indiana U and UIUC, and a number of people from the Midwest, so you never know. It can't hurt to write the Boston schools and show interest either..

And if this helps, Massachusetts, New York, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Maryland were the most represented states in our class, with 37% of the class from New England, 17% from NY, 16% from CA, 18% from Midwest/Rocky Mtn region/Washington/Alaska, and the rest of the class from states/regions not mentioned. Most represented undergrad institutions are Tufts, Brandeis, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCSD, U Michigan, Bates, and Bowdoin in that order. Other schools with 2 or more students represented include Rutgers, Yale, Harvard, NYU, Columbia, Duke, U of Maryland, Haverford, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Emory, Northwestern, U Chicago, and Boston College.
