After graduating high school I made a lot of stupid decisions and long story short I spent the next six years homeless and addicted to heroin. Since then I went to inpatient treatment, have had a baby, have a counselor, started undergrad, am in the honors society, etc. I have turned my life around and have grown so much from my experiences. When I was using I got two misdemeanors for shoplifting. I’m wondering how this will affect my ability to get accepted to medical school? I’m a freshman so what can I do from now until I apply to really show I have changed? My goal is to do family medicine and hopefully work in underserved Hispanic communities to help people who may be able to relate to me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
