I graduated in 2009 with a business degree and a 2.6 GPA. The 2.6 was the result of not knowing what I wanted to do (and not taking my classes seriously because I wasnt interested in them), and because I was immature and naive and partied more than I studied. It is what it is.
I always had an interest in science and even attended a seminar at my university to learn about becoming pre-med. Ultimately I didn't have much self-confidence in thinking I could ever be a doctor or succeed in the classes. Now 2 years removed from college and I have come to the realization that this is what I most want to do.
What is my best course of action? I would assume my best option would be a formal post-bacc at a university. I will start volunteering at a local hospital within the month which should give me some helpful experience. What are my chances of getting in to a formal program? I am looking to apply to programs in New Jersey (where I live). Most of these programs want you to have a "B" average. What are my chances? Is there anything else I can do to help myself get selected? Is an informal program smarter since I have a low gpa? Does taking the GRE help? Thanks!
