Hi all!

I just found the residency program of my dreams. Is there any way to get them to pay attention to me? Maybe contact the directors and introduce myself, ask questions about the program?

Any advice appreciated! No rude comments, please.

Thanks.

Apply for an away rotation there as a fourth year.

This. I would not recommend cold-emailing the program directors; they have interview days set up specifically as a chance to tell you more about their program and to learn more about you, so there's no need to pester them with emails. If after you apply you would like to send an email expressing particular interest you could certainly do so.

Also, I would caution against getting your heart set on any one program. The idea with the match is that you should apply broadly to a number of programs that you are interested in, and then the match algorithm should match you to somewhere that you will be happy, even if it isn't necessarily your number one choice.

Based on this post, seems like you know the answer- try to VSAS an away there and you need to be plotting your domination of Step 2. Your chances at any ONE program are still not good. Just curious, how have you found the "perfect" program if you haven't rotated or interviewed there?

Any advice other than applying broadly and acing Step 2? 🙁 Anyone else in a similar situation and succeeded/failed to match peds?
