Just curious as to who got in their 1st choice meidcal school.

not me...but i'm still waiting..it could still happen

right?

Technically I did-- I love UNC and had tied it with Columbia and Stanford in my own personal rankings.

Whether or not that really counts, I don't know... 🙂

I really hope I get into my 1st choice medical school. UPenn is the best school for me and, if I get in, I would truly just cry my eyes out! It would make me the happiest I have ever been in my life. I hope with all my heart that everyone gets into their top choices, because it would be the best feeling in the world. Good luck everyone and don't give up! I know I will continue to show my top choice how much I want to go there.

I did...got into Stanford a few weeks ago. I might hear back from UCSF sometime soon, but my decision has already been made!

If you have already made your decision, than why don't you withdraw from UCSF? I am sure tons of people (including myself) would love to get accepted to UCSF and I don't think it helps when people who have already decided on AND gotten in to another school don't withdraw.

I just got into mine. 🙂

I did. UWSOM Class of 2008.

me, too! UWSOM!!! YAY!!!!! Just found out this week!!!!

I love the "UPenn is the best school for me". Awwww!

Also, I had a similar moment last week. I was out with a friend I hadn't seen in ages and she asked me "How will you react when/if you get into my first choice?" I couldn't answer, I thought I would have to choke back the tears - I'd just cry and cry and cry and praise the Lord all day long. 😍

Hey krevelli,

Thanks for the kind words. I wish you all the best and I hope you get into your top choice. It is so hard sometimes thinking that I will not get in. I am trying to be as positive as I can. SDN is a big support for me and I am happy my friend introduced me to it. It is comforting having people understand what you are going through. I honestly do not know where I would be without SDN. If I get into UPenn, it will be due, in large part, to all the support from the cool people from SDN. May all of us be happy in the med schools of our choice come the Fall. God bless! 🙂

I have too many top choices 🙁 .

If i get into UCSF and Columbia it will be an extremely hard decision.

Hey Tezzie!

Don't fret! Second-look weekends can help you make that all important decision. Best of luck! Congrats on all the acceptances and may many more come! I would rather have a heard decision than none at all! 😉

Me! Me! Hooray!

Well you never know exactly what the financial aid package is gonna look like. Plus, when she decides in the end which school is best for her, then she'll withdraw her application allowing someone off the wait list. It's totally her prerogative.

I have no problem with the idea of holding multiple acceptances if you are still deciding between schools and you want to consider financial aid packages; I just think that if you are already sure (like Pikayou said) you are going to go to another school, it's nice to withdraw in consideration of other applicants.

it's funny how God works. i prayed about this whole application process, and by the time my second interview rolled around all of my top three choices were out. it makes it so much easier to give all my worries to someone who will take care of me in the end. otherwise, i would probably still be pulling my hair out about those schools that i thought i wanted to go to.

For those who really loved their trip to columbia, what were the draws?

Coops

NYC is a really big draw for me. Also Columbia seems to be very musician friendly.

I don't know if Columbia is my first choice but it certainly is up there.

At Columbia, I had a really awesome interviewer: he demonstrated compassion and a level of understanding I haven't felt anywhere else. He must be a tremendous physician. It was my first interview and left me revved up to hit the books and wards.

And that's after our tour guides didn't show up, leaving our group of interviewees to knock on doors in the dorm ourselves and hit lunch.

Draws:
1) Sense of purpose, friendliness, and fulfillment - demonstrated by my interviewer and other students (both people I know there and others I met)
2) NYC - the city itself and also the network of hospitals
3) chance to pursue an MD/MBA, lots of depth in neuroscience

Pushes:
1) I have heard from some people there, particularly people who took a year+ after undergrad off, that it's very pre-medy, which I guess means competitive and immature? Some of the kids seem cliquey or frattish

2) I've also heard a student there say it might not be the best place if you're not into surgery or neuroscience - haven't done more research to substantiate that claim yet

All told, it's up there on my list.

i got into my first choice school...first choice for the obvious reason of tuition. it might not be ranked as high but at least it is top tier. also my gf's there.

I got into my first choice. Luckily it is one of my state schools, the University of Tennessee at Memphis. I love this school, crappy neighborhood and all.

I got into my top choice school, very fortunate because the tuition is quite reasonable and the location is superb (in-state)

i got into my top choice!!!!!!!😀

but SHHHH!! don't tell MrWuStar i said that, cause he is still hoping i get into an NYC scool.😉
