I'm in my third year of a biochem degree and hoping to follow it up with medschool. I think I have a slim chance this year and a very good chance next year (living down first year marks) for getting in. I'm also getting married this summer (july). My Fiance is finishing her education degree at the end of this summer. Any advice on handling a marriage and school at the same time? What do I do if for some reason I don't get in? Allied health perhaps? I don't want to be rotting in grad school without a guaranteed job at the end while my wife-to-be pays the bills!

Every marriage I have seen that basis its deicsion to begin financially doesn't seem to last or has major obstacles to overcome. Start your marriage becuase you are two people commited to make things work come what may (believe it or not that is the definition of a marriage). You can make it through all of the things you mentioned together, myself and hundreds others do at as I type this, but my relationship with my wife was based on a come what may we will love each other and make this work. Guess what, we have and will continue to do so. Set your goals and work to achieve them.

If you were honestly worried about not having a job should you not get in, then why did you choose the major that you did? Or did you just not think that far ahead in the hellbent rush to become a physician? (Don't worry, this is really common...it's basically pathognomic for being a premed)

My husband plans on working as either a patient care tech or an EMT while waiting to get into medical school. Not only will he earn some cash, but it shows a dedication to medicine and helping people. He will also volunteer during this time.
