I was pre-med, then pre-pa for a while, but now I am stuck between the two...I have been planning on getting my CNA to get patient care hours for pa school, but if i decide to do med school, would i be wasting my time or is an experience like this valuable to medical school? Does anyone have any experience with this?

It’s definitely helped me answer the question “why medicine?” more than research will. Also, patient exposure for medical school is required so you would need it regardless if you go to medical school or PA school.

EDIT: You don’t necesarily need your certification. Many states allow you to be a nursing assistant without an actual certification.

This is certainly true. After undergrad, I worked at a psychiatric hospital, doing CNA duties without having to obtain a CNA license. But, having the training and license really does help with the job. You will already know how to transfer patients, lift, etc.
