...and I'm wondering if anyone has any other school suggestions based on my numbers (and, of course, the fact that I'm looking at MSTP).

To be honest, I don't have a particular field I'm really committed to at this point, but I have enjoyed the genetics and biochemistry research I have done thus far, so a school that has strengths in those areas would be good, but other than that, I haven't really made up my mind yet.

EDIT: Is UT Southwestern worth a look? I'm just doing a bit of hunting around in previous threads.

What results did you find from: Biology Research: Effects of Dexamethasone on Mouse Fibroblast Cells (4 Semesters)?

Did you publish anything on these findings?

No. Essentially we found a link between synthetic glucocorticoids and an increase in osteoblast apoptosis, but we haven't published anything yet. I did present a poster for a university event, though. Why do you ask? (Also, the first semester of that lab, I was responsible for a literature review, so not much actual research was going on.)

I was confused by the title of your research.

I work in a similar system, and I didn't understand how it could take a person 4 semesters to realize that fibroblasts exposed to dexamethasone would turn into osteoblasts.

You might consider revising the title for clarity.

Good luck on your apps. It looks like you got the credentials to get interviews about where ever, so the important thing for you now is to start thinking about where you really want to go/who you really want to work with.

Thanks for the input. I threw together that MDApps profile, but my actual primary application explains the research in detail. 🙂

how detailed of a description do they want on the primary app, in the activities section, anyway? I mean, why would they want you to repeat what you have in the research essay anyway?

Yeah, when I say I elaborated on my primary, I meant the research essay. I gave a very brief overview in the activities section.
