Hello SDN! A little long, I apologize.
Okay so my situation kinda sucks, first off, I already have one W from last semester for a mistake in my registration in an online class, I wasn't about to take a C in the easiest class at my university. So there's that, and now I am in General Chemistry 1 and its concurrent lab w/ it's lab lecture, 4 hrs both together (lab and lab lecture). Now, the problem is the lab instructor, we've had 2 labs already and me and my partner see it's literally impossible to make an A, a B if we find out whats wrong with her and appeal to her grading criteria, and a C if we never find out.
The lab itself and experiments are simple and straight forward, but her expectation of pre-lab write up and post lab assignments has nothing to do with half the stuff we do in lab. On Exp.1 i got a 6/10 for pre lab write up and was told to add more detail... Which was stupid because it was very detailed, and so on Exp.2 write up I honestly wrote the whole effffin lab procedure and everything down to the detail, she gave me a 7.5...? Not even an 8, wth? And now the quizzes have NOTHING to do with the lab and on top of that, we have 20 minutes to finish a 10 question quiz that we have to find out how to do online from other sources, it's really dumb and unfair. And it's not that we're incompetent, we both got A's in Bio 1 and Basic Chem and doing well in Genetics, it just really pisses me off that i'm wasting 4 hrs on a class that should be relatively simple if you spend the time necessary to achieve an A, but we are spending that time and more and probably get a C, and maybe a B if we're lucky.
I was trying to switch lab time, and since I am taking 18 hours this semester, there's very little available 3 hour windows in my schedule, and the ones that are, are either with the same instructor, or are full, so i'm poop out of luck😛.
So this leads to a couple questions
1. How would it look if I got a second W and in chem lab and it's concurrent lecture ( I hope it's just 1 W and not 2 cuz of the two different classes )?
2. Would taking Chem 1 Lab at a community college and Chem 1 at 4 year college look bad/weird?
I plan on taking Gen Chem 2 and its lab this summer at community college so hopefully it doesn't look bad at all.

Thanks for y'alls help and input! (If it comes😀)

You are at a university right now? I would say that getting a W in that lab then taking the same lab at a community college wouldn't look very good. Granted it is only a lab and not something like ochem, but it still isn't going to help. With that being said if it is a small amount of credit and you are doing well in your other classes a B isn't the end of the world. I would do that over falling back on a community college.

Thanks for the response!
Yea I'm at university right now. Darn that's what I suspected, but I honestly believe that I'll end up with a C realistically, it's just hard to explain the foolishness of this instructor. It is only 1 credit hour though, but still a C would look bad, and they might see the W being at the beginning of the semester and maybe not think it's due to lack of ability? Just a thought, but thanks again!

I don't think getting a W is going to hurt you. The thing is that You will have to take the lab and I'm assuming you can only take that lab from that instructor since it's a lab. It's just a bridge you will have to cross someway or another.

Hm, I think I'll drop considering my cGPA isn't stellar, 3.27 and any and all A's will do me good, and I wanna keep my sGPA 4.0 and any and all non-A's ain't gonna do me good, thanks for the help, really appreciate it!

Can you talk to the person in charge of the lab instructor? I assume she is a TA so maybe the lab coordinator can do something...

Yea she is, the thing is there isn't anything he can do, not to mention he is so conceited and won't go further than the minimum to help students ( my university lacks in helping students in all honesty). All he can do is advice me to switch times and therefore switch TA's, but my schedule won't allow for a different time with different TA, it will for a different time but same TA.

Well you could talk to someone higher up.
Or talk to an advisor.
Honestly C in a 1 credit course wont matter much in a long run. Seems like a big deal but if it isn't an F (or C- for prereq) don't waste time worrying about it. If it works out it can be a great answer to 'academic challenge' question on interviews.
