Currently in my fellowship. Starting to think about GI jobs. From the east coast but due to family constraints, will also need to look at SF/Bay Area. Anyone have any insight into the job market/reimbursement compared to northeast/southeast? Trying to understand the difficulty of finding a desirable job with fair pay

fair pay is not a thing in big cities. try going non private equity private practice, grind for first few years for 300-400k and once established, you will be minting money

how do you find these jobs? Job boards? Recruiter? Cold call practices after googling?

I know this sounds crazy but it can actually work - a lot of times good PP groups may not necessarily have the budget to post jobs on job boards or use recruiters. You can call their front desk and just say hi I am a GI doc interested in XYZ location and I was just wondering if your group might be recruiting and who to talk to. Sometimes there will be an e-mail on the website for the head MD and you can reach out that way too

That’s a good strategy. But how can we figure out which GI groups pay the absolute most? I suppose it would be based on payer mix. Should we look at a payer mix database to see which GI groups would have the best based on geography, then correlate with locations of ASCs, and triangulate based on decreased density of GI per capita in the county? All of this data should be publicly available. May take some work though would likely need to hire personal assistant from the Philippines to make the calls
