sorry if i posted this before, i feel like i have but i can't remember...

what's a good gift to get a PI after you finish? we were all thinking "bottle of something" and then found out he doesn't drink. (nuts!) outdoorsy guy with no cultural interests who's passionate about venom and bugs. any ideas?

How about a gift certificate to Cabela's or some other outdoorsy store? You'll know he'll get what he likes and it will be appreciated. Gift certificates for Amazon.com, book stores or restaurants are always good bets, too.

would he like interesting ... i dunno... rock formation kindof decoration thing? (petrified wood sortof stuff, i used to love those, and I was outdorsy kind). but, he's a guy, so maybe he doesn't care for decoration.

If you want to get him somethign personal, go to some outdoor/insect gift store and ask the clerk there what may be good, and explain your situation. maybe an interesting poster?

Less creative things could be, chocalates, nuts, fruit baskets, etc.

I think that you can't go wrong with a geek gift. I've given my PI stuff like a space pen (great because you can write with it upside down) and also a wooden puzzle. It only has eight pieces, but it's hard to put it back together unless you know the trick. Stumped all the PhDs I know. :meanie:
