lol, raffle, those are actually great suggestions. I also second the bookstore giftcard!

haha those lady bugs are a great idea. i'm looking into the noise cancelling headphones now, thanks!

if they've been accepted to med school and will be attending for sure, and you have a lot of dough, buy them what I just had to buy:

a 3M Cardiology III stethoscope

$150 on amazon. available in lots of pretty colors 😀

other ideas:
-Netter's Anatomy Flashcards (~$30 on amazon, beautiful, portable, very informative, great illustrations, comes in a nice box and a must have for those taking human anatomy)
-a giant white board (inexpensive yet very practical gift for those taking orgo or biochem)
-a comfy, high quality pair of lab goggles (them cheap ones hurt if you're wearing them a long time!)
-a nice set of scrubs (always a wonderful thing to have)
-a coffee maker (self-explanatory)
-a gift certificate to a spa (because all those long study hours do not make for a good look or any relaxation time  )

also, thumbs up to whoever said you should buy them an MSAR. great resource to have during the application cycle 👍

giantmicrobes for a cute/fun/gag gift. Exam Krackers comprehensive study kit for those brave souls attempting to undertake the MCAT soon without taking a formal class.

Can't go wrong with Amazon gift cards. Starbucks cards are another good option 👍

Unconditional support and a good letter opener with a note attached: "For all those acceptance letters you'll be getting."

Or, if you're not into really corny gifts, a comfy pair of shoes with a lot of support and shock absorption will do. Because seriously: after four hours in a lab, I find myself wanting nothing more than to never, ever be on my feet again.

Unless the recipient of said gift is in Portland, in which case you could actually go wrong. Starbucks is crap, and we shop at Powells Books. 😛

Tell it like it is, home slice. Stumptown and Powell's gift cards 100%. And does Voodoo sell gift cards? (my guess is no)

Why would you waste $150 on a stethoscope??? 😕

I don't think buying for a pre-med is any different from buying for anyone else.
