I know that on interview day, I would like to not break an ankle. I can walk in heels for about an hour, but not the whole day... Is it unprofessional to carry a pair of flats and change into them for the tour?

PLEASE help! Put your vote and suggestions down for the comfiest high heel pumps.. I've been Googling all morning with no success!

THANKS!

You mean those suicide heels you girls insist on wearing for my viewing pleasure aren't comfortable?

Who knew?

I've got a pair of ankle boots with a 2.5 inch heel. It's modestly high, comfy, goes well with my interview clothes, and suitable for winter weather. You can't beat it.

I actually found really comfortable heels to go with my interview suit. They are Aerosoles, and while my feet are usually ready to be in tennis shoes or flip flops after an interview day, they are by far the most comfortable heels I've found.

i totally understand...I love the height that heels give me but they can really be a pain sometime. I invested in some wedges by Bandolino...I really can walk in them all day and they're pretty high. i think wedges in general give all around support/comfort 🙂 give em a try

Dansko shoes are pretty popular with women that are on their feet a lot - doctors, nurses, chefs, etc. http://www.dansko.com They're a little expensive (around $100) but they're really comfortable and durable and supposed to be good for your feet.

Hey- try Dansko, Mephisto, Ecco some of those have professional shoes

go to Zappos and then click "the park" which is the comfort shoes section then you can narrow by shoe type, color, and size 🙂 and shipping is super fast and returns are free if you don't like the shoes!

Rockport. First off, they are really good with sizes - they have half-sizes and wides, and you can even find a half-size in a wide (which is usually impossible). Their shoes are very basic and professional-looking. I have these ones in black and brown:

(They are called Queensburg).

Rockport will also deliver you a pair from another store for free if your store doesn't have the exact color/size you want.

These are SUPER-comfortable - I've worn them all day without any sort of socks/pantyhose and they still don't hurt my feet. Wearing these puppies to my interviews!:meanie:

I have a pair of those "ballet-esque" shoes, and they go great with my suit. They are soooo comfortable!

Try Borne or Clarks. They will be great for the wards later on too! 🙂

if you're looking for heels, it costs an arm and a leg, but taryn rose is a shoe designer who is also an orthopeadic surgeon, and she makes heels which are SUPER comfortable. she recently came out with a "taryn" line which is cheaper. when i tried some on, it felt completely different than any pair of heels i've ever worn before; the my weight wasn't on the balls of my feet, but instead distributed to the arch/heel also. BUT-- i'm sure we all don't have money for it.

anyi lu uses similar construction and is slightly cheaper... (still the cost of a couple secondaries tho....)

..i had foot surgery, so my feet are really really sensitive, so i'm willing to spend money on these things...

privo by clark has flats which are pretty comfortable. good luck 🙂

yellow umbrella -- $400 is the cheapest pair on that website! that woman must be rich!

thanks for the shout out ladies, i generally love flip-flops all year long.. but heels do make you feel sophisticated and confident.. especially when without them you are 5'2'' 🙂

Get some stacked heels--those look high but feel very comfy. I have a pair that I wear everywhere, and aside from my sneakers they literally are the comfiest shoes I own. You should check Zappos because they have tons of reviews, and generally people will let you know whether the shoes are comfy or not. Plus shipping is free so if you hate your shoes or they are not comfortable you can send them back for free. I have done that a million times, which is how I found my comfy shoes 🙂

Also using padded inserts is an excellent plan. Comfortable shoes seriously are important for interviews because you will be on your feet most of the day. Some of us learned our lesson the hard way 👎

Dansko are really ugly. My wife is a flight attendant and on her feet all day. The best shoes she has found are from Ecco. I also have Ecco dress shoes that I wear around and they are amazing, like a cushioned foot glove 👍.
They aren't the cheapest shoes, but they last forever and the comfort makes them worth the up front price.

Go to any dance shoe store and ask for "character shoes" in your size. They're basic, classic, reasonably priced ($25 online) heals of different height. They are meant to be worn on the stage for theater rehearsals (which is why I bought them in the first place) but they make great dress shoes. I wore them for my med school interview and I have arthritis in my feet so believe me, they are comfortable!

i don't actually own taryn rose shoes... but that's the brand my podiatrist suggested.🙄 i splurged on one pair of anyi lu's and that's what i've been wearing to interviews.

i def recommend zappos. free shipping both ways! 🙂

solid black tennis shoes. No lie - I saw a girl in a pant suit wearing SOLID BLACK TENNIS SHOES.....but I guess she was comfortable all day - maybe she knew she needed to go on a little midday jog or something

I wish that I had tried harder to find comfy shoes. I barely survived the school tour! I never wear heels, but I noticed that a lot of female med students are really tall. I wanted to appear tall just in case there is an subconscious bias for tall women. Instead, I looked a bit drunk teetering down the hallway.🙁
