I just read the GISSI prevenzione article in the Lancet, and I gotta say...I think PUFA is beneficial, but damned if those endpoints aren't confusing. My head was spinning by the end of it, can someone help me out? Most of these articles are greek to me.
The idea I got, and I could be way off base here, is that in patients who had myocardial infarction, taking PUFA, but not vitamin E showed a significant decrease in overall cardiovascular MORTALITY, but not reinfarction, stroke, etc. And am I right in saying that the supposed protective effect is supposed to be membrane stabilization against arrhythmias? BTW, what the hell is a 4 point analysis?
