If Clinton gets in, you'd be begging for 4 more years from the current (horrible) administration.
I'll never beg to send 3422 of our young men and women to die for a worthless cause (worthless in my opinion). Which is what our current (horrible) administration has delivered.
Trust me, I don't think a Democrat is going to be any better. I want someone that is not tied in with the big businesses, doesn't owe any favors (impossible), wants to clean up the government as well as the climate. Someone who will tax the **** out of big business and the ones that are pouring their waste into our environment. I want someone who will fund our military and god forbid we need them, will tax every single citizen enough to support the effort. I want fair taxes. That means a flat tax to me. I could go on but why would you guys care what I want.
I disagree with overly (a relative term I know) taxing big business. But, we do need to police our environment more. I guess I'm more of a fiscal conservative in that I like the idea of lower corporate tax rates.
Interestingly enough, I caught a bit of Larry Kudlow's program on CNBC today. They were discussing profits in the oil industry. But, contrary to many a conspiracy theory, apparently there have been many price fixing inquiries into big oil over the years, yet very few (Larry claimed none) have checked out. Also, even though it seems like just a few companies "control" the market, none control much more than 5% (they said ExxonMobile controls less than that) of the entire market. Granted 5% is a lot, but it just seems reactionary (this is not directed at you Noy, personally) that much of public opinion is calling for some pretty extraordinary measures with respect to oil profits. I say let em make money. It's not their problem they're in a business in which demand far exceeds supply.
I'm not talking about oil companies in particular. I'm talking about getting rid of the gov't officials that have their hands in the big businesses pockets and turning their backs on the flagrant abuses that they inact on the environment and the public. They are given to many tax breaks as well.
I agree. I'm not really too familiar with Mcain/Fiengold's "campaign finance reform" bill. But, clearly we still need a major overhaul in our system to prevent politicians literally being bought and sold by private interests. We just need to let the ASA do their job in DC, that's all...lol

Given the choices, I would probably vote for Guiliani, as a RINO (Republican in Name Only) is better than Clinton.
Tax-wise, I would probably vote for ANY candidate who promised to install the FairTax over the current IRS debacle.
And I will certainly vote against ANY candidate who votes for the proposed Z-1 visa (Amnesty) bill in the U.S. Senate.
Anyone think Romney has a chance? I live in Massachusetts and think he did a great job here in Mass. He lowered taxes, put into place a mandated insurance policy where everyone is required to be insured and if not, they then need to pay for a state sponsored health insurance plan, he sort of helped clear up that Big Dig debacle, and he lowered taxes.
The thing that will probably be an obstacle is his Mormon beliefs, or will most Americans still vote for him, what do you think?
All I know is that Hillary is to medicine as oil is to water.....

Seriously, why all this talk about Fred Thompson? I don't know what he stands for or just about anything about him other than he has a trophy wife. Would he really be a dream candidate in any other election? Remember George W. Bush looked the part and had complacency on his side; see how that all worked out... As far a Guilliani goes, Bloomberg has been twice the mayor and far more effective. Romney used to be a good candidate (like McCain) until he started reinventing himself as an intolerant right-wing ideologue. In the last debate the audience cheered the candidates most likely to torture?!?! Ron Paul was villified for speaking the truth (or at least what the 9/11 Commission reported) about terrrorism. They also didn't even MENTION health care reform. Our system is on the verge of collapse and they don't even debate it? I'm not sure who'll win the nomination, but I have my money on the white guy.
The Democrats have their problems too, but most of them have at least thought out a plan for health care reform. They also are also generally in favor of the Bill of Rights. Unfortunately, the guy with the best healthcare plan is a tort lawyer for Christ's sake... I think we're going to have to make some tough decisions on the US health care system and I really wish there were some physicians involved in something other than maintaing the status quo (which has no more than 10 years left tops).
Yeah, I heard about the healthcare thing in Mass. That's the way it should be done. It amazes me that people have the cash to buy $5.00 of cigarettes/day but can't contribute to a measly basic insurance plan. $150/month would go very far with an HSA (health savings account) with a reasonable deductable. I just don't get why it's asking too much of people to chip in for (heaven forbid) their own health insurance.
because some of the people in this country think that good health care is a right...their entitlement. They honestly don't think they should have to pay for it.
see, when i read it in 8th grade, it said "life, liberty and the pursuit of hapiness..."
not sure how they have warped it into a right to health care whether they can pay for it or not but they have.🙁
If it came down to these two who would you vote for?
Would it matter if McCain was vice and Obama was vice?
I say that the worst possible candidate is Clinton, am I wrong?
Dr. Ronald Paul 2008
1) I'd rather trust a doctor to address US healthcare. Less govt and corporate interference, not more, is better!
2) Voted against the Iraq War
3) Fiscally conservative
4) Has the record to back up what he preaches:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
)Is anyone else here surprised at the number of practicing physicians that actually support socialized medicine in that it is a right, not a privilege? I've been with two, a psychiatrist and a pediatrician, both of whom work in a rather poor/heavily medicaid population. I just don't get it. I've been doing ER for 2 weeks and am already completely appalled at the way our system is abused and my pockets picked every day. Why on earth would we allow this to continue and get exponentially worse? (and throw in all the 400,000 new illegals and their billions of family members). Do you hear that squeaking? the wheels are about to fall off the wagon....
The idea that more people would seek preventive care if they had insurance is laughable. People with insurance now avoid the doctor's office because they have to wait or they don't like their physician, or whatever excuse they can come up with.
I also love that many people "cannot afford" health insurance but can afford to have their nails and hair done, cigarettes, sleek cell phones, cable, etc. Of the alleged 46 million uninsured Americans, I would like to know how many of them choose not to have heath insurance. It would be nice if there was a politician who actually had the courage and charisma to introduce REAL market reforms to save health care.
Indoor plumbing and basic sanitation has done more to extend life expectancy than modern medicine. However, if I need a plumber I don't say "$300, that sounds a little steep. Why don't I just pay you $100 . . . or better yet, plumbing should be a right, get someone else to pay it, I really don't feel like it."
I saw a commercial recently that had a guy wearing a white coat saying "HD TV is great isn't it? The crystal clear picture, large screens, it's great for watching the game on Sunday. However, your teeth are important too. Before you upgrade to HD maybe you should consider having some dental work done. HD is nice, but your teeth are more important. Make an appointment today."
If only physicians had the same guts as those dentists.
