So I know most jobs are in academics and private companies. What is the salary for these gigs? I am sure molecular pathology will get hotter in the future.
I am sure it will too.... in the same way cytogenetics, EM, IHC and flow pathology jobs have gotten hotter since the 1800s, 1930s, 1960s, and 1970s, respectively.... 😎

Having had a few friends that went to Bay Area to work in Bio-tech, they said the salaries in industry were similar to academics but you have the opportunity of making a lot more money of the company does well. (i.e. if you have stock in the company and it goes public or get purchased, you can have a huge windfall.)
Pure guesstimate based on no direct experience, so place faith in it at your peril -- but since no-one has offered actual numbers, perhaps in the $150-250 range, probably towards the mid or higher end of that with the directorship that tends to go hand in hand with such jobs these days.
