hey, im posting this for a friend who isnt registered on here but is freaking out, he just got his scores.. any advice is appreciated by him..

stats - 3.16 science gpa, 3.28 overall
MCAT - VR- 9, BS - 6, PS - 7 , total = 22 Q

top choices are DMU , CCOM, and LECOM. should he bother to apply now at all? or just sit on the apps till he retakes?
thanks.

People have been accepted with similar stats, but they usually have something else in their app (Clinical exp, research etc...) that off set the lower MCAT/GPA. The usual advise applies here: apply early, apply to as many schools as possible and if you get an interview make sure you know your stuff and knock their socks off. There's hope, but ultimately he will be well advised to bring the MCAT up and boost the GPA a bit.

Look like both GPA and MCAT are below the average of most schools. Apply to as many as he/she can. Of course, retaking the MCAT is a good option. Good luck.

I would tell him to retake the MCAT and apply early. My gpa is only a little higher and I got into LECOM so I think he would have a shot there. I don't know about the others though. Good luck :luck:

same here, got in, apply everywhere, it only takes 1 acceptance letter! good luck!!

Dr. Wiggles : are you going to erie or bradenton?

Can't say much about those schools in particular...but apply and tell him to get all his apps in EARLY.

his apps are already in..he was jjust waiting on his MCAT scores...should he just leave everything sitting there since hes retaking in august? or submit with the current scores. hes just afraid of getting automatically rejected , with no interview with such a low gpa/mcat combo

They will wait for the August MCAT scores to render a decision. Mind you, taking the August MCAT score puts his application at a disadvantage unless he pulls out a good MCAT score. However, how could he have submitted his application already without his current scores? Did he not release them yet? If he didn't, I suggest that he does release them because it can take a few weeks to show up on the application. Best of luck.

P.S. He should be the one on the forum, not you.

AGREED! Make sure to apply to a lot of schools and apply EARLY and get everything back on time.

ooo, he pretty much has my MCAT. The best advice I can give is to apply and be ready for the, "why so low MCAT?"
