Soooooo, I've officially given up in trying to apply to schools with a 2/1 deadline...people have been telling me it's nearly impossible unless I'm some kind of genius (which I'm not). But now I'm stuck with my LORs sitting around...

I use interfolio and paid for it for a year($19). Was going to use it for this cycle and then the 2018 cycle. Now that I'm not using it for this cycle...I guess I wasted $19...but least I have a space where I can keep it. Is it okay to use outdated LORs? I've just received them probably dated January something (if dated).

ALSO! I got a LOR from my dentist where I shadowed and they are looking to hire me for a paid assistant position! Would this be good to include in the LOR? If so, I need him to write me another one once I start working and closer to the next cycle opening...

1. Don't you have a health professions committee at your school who combine all your LOR's and send it for you ?
2. Just change the dates on these LOR's. No problem. Make sure the recommenders change it though. Also are these good letters?
3. When did you start applying ? This is really late if you begin recently. You should start applying when the cycle opens around June!

You should become familiar with the procedure and apply early next year with everything ready to go. Dental admissions is getting competitive every to the point it is harder to get in than med schools. You have to be on top of your things.
Yes, the LOR from our dentist should be updated to show your brilliance etc etc.

- In my UG, yes there was but I've been out of school since 2014 and it is hard to get LORs from my science professors (big classes)

- Should I have them change the date near the next cycle in June? By good letters, do you mean 'are they from a science professor that knows you personally?' if so yes, however, they are community college professors because I took a couple of classes during this past semester for additional required prerequisites.

- I was going for the Feb 1st deadline, but I decided it was best till I retake my DATs and be ready to send out everything when ready instead of rushed. So I will apply this coming June.

I will ask my dentist to re-write my LOR if I do happen to start working there as a paid dental assistant. Thanks for your reply!

It's only January.

Are you saying that I still have time to submit my applications for this current cycle or it's only January so don't worry about LORs?

If it's the latter, I was preparing for the 2/1 deadline as stated in the original post, which is why I have all the LORs. But I gave up on that because many people including the schools I've contacted said that it's late and it's better if I prepare for the next cycle instead of spending money for this cycle.

I should have been more clear, I apologize.
I meant it's only January because interview invites are still going out. It's way too early to give up.

I agree with schmoob. still early to give up. I know BU is still having 2 interview groups per week until march. But its never a bad thing to get everything ready for next cycle if needed.

Ohh I see. I've emailed all the schools with 2/1 deadlines that fit my prerequisites. 3/4 replied back saying 'no more applications are being accepted.' But now it's REALLY too late to send my official transcripts in to aadsas to verify by 2/1...I didn't do it because they're apparently changing platforms for the next cycle and I'd have to do it ALL over again :/
