After spending the past 2 months on this website, I want to thank everyone generous enough to post scores/advice/ and questions! I have to say that I am pretty satisfied with my score and i want opinions.I spend the past month and a half in pajamas locked inside of my bedroom reading and doing practice tests. The things I used to study for this was Kaplan subject tests, Crack PAT, TopScore, DESTROYER, and my favorite chemist CHAD!
If anyone isn't scoring so well on topscore, don't worry too much, just know that you have to put your all in the actual DAT. My scores on topscore weren't the best…I never broke a 17 on the biology section, chemistry were 16, 16, and 21 and organic scores were 17, 19, 18. Pat was always 22 and QR was between 19 and 20. I was most worried about the RC section because im not a quick reader and I always crack. I score 19s and 20s on topscore.
PAT- I didnt think that i would have done this well on this section. About 2 weeks ago, I decided to buy Crack PAT (10 test version of which i managed to do 6 of). My scores were 20, 20, 20, 18, 23, 23. I would have to say this this section was similar buy easier than Crack. The keyhole and TFE I would say were similar buy simpler. The angles were on par. I had an ILLUSION cube counting but didnt find this section to be too difficult. Pattern folding was similar as well. I think i finished this section with 5 min and went back to the angle ranking to make correction (i changed 1).
QR- For this section, I used destroyer math and TopScore. After doing the full DAT, it was hard to focus on this stupid QR section. But I guess I pulled through. The questions, I guess, were similar to those of TopScore and Destroyer. I didn't get many simple questions and would say that they were half word problems. Overall, I didn't practice too much for this section; I went through Topscore once and Destroyer a couple of times.
RC- As for this section, I would say that I am the least satisfied with this score. I was definitely pressed for time and after doing the sciences and PAT, I was fried. Compared to TopScore, I would rate this section a bit more difficult with more tone questions. As I said before, my TS's were between 19 and 20 so I guess they compare to my actual score. My passages were on bone injuries, herbal remedies…and I don't remember the last one.
Bio – This section was like everyone else and their mother says, VERYYYY RANDOMMMM!!! I am very surpised with my score as I never broke a 17 on TopScore. I honestly don't remember much about this section; the questions weren't difficult but a lot of them required a general understanding of everything. Nothing on photosynthesis, digestions, excretion, 1 ecology, 1 taxonomy, RNA reverse transciptase.
GC – This section was very basic. I would compare it to TopScore maybe a little bit simpler.
OC - This section was very basic as well. I would also compare it to TopScore.
Overall, I would say that my experience studying and doing practice exams wasn't in vain. I would advise anyone who is freaking out over the DAT to take a chill pill. I am the king of freak outs, but this time around I kept my cool…
My GPA is a 3.67 overall and 3.38 science. I submitted my app. the 3rd week of June and I'm applying to 14 schools.
