Hello everyone. Not sure if this belongs in this forum but anyway...

I graduated with a BS in Biomedical Engineering last May, took the MCATs this summer, and have started applying to med schools. I have pretty good credentials (I think), so I anticipate someone will accept. However, I still have a year of nothing to do, and I'm searching for a Biomedical Engineering job. As you can imagine, most companies want people for a long term position, and if I make it known that I'm applying to med-schools and plan on leaving their company in a year, I'm probably not going to get hired. The problem is, I'm a horrible liar and am not quite sure how to hide this, especially when an interviewer asks something like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" I'd also feel kind of guilty about screwing over a company like this if someone does in fact hire me. Is it unethical for me to do something like this? Any advice? Thanks!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Getting more experience to acquire a management position, blah blah, etc...

It's not lying if you believe it. 😀

You should look at a temp agency to get some cash doing any sort of research-related job and look for full-time work at the same time. It's also okay to say that you want to be in medical school in 5 years and that you've already taken the MCAT.

By the way, engineers are feeling the pinch these days. I know one who got a perfect ACT score and went to one of the top engineering programs in the country. She got furloughed because the economy is terrible.
