I've been working as a scribe at a surgical outpatient clinic for the past few months and applied this cycle too. I was wondering if it would be perceived poorly to quit this job and potentially have a gap in my work history during the cycle. I've been pretty bored at this job as there's no patient interaction and its pretty routine bread and butter cases -- I'm pretty much just clicking the same buttons over and over again. That being said, I'm hoping to start working as an EMT soon but am unsure about when I'd be able to start/how soon I can get hired.

Would it be a safer bet to keep this job while searching or would a few weeks of being unemployed not make a difference for adcoms?

For reference, I have some DO acceptances and two MD II from schools I'd be thrilled to go to. Plenty of clinical experience/patient interaction prior to applying.

Thanks!

I would say you should go for the switch. A gap of a few weeks probably won’t hurt your application, especially since you already have solid clinical experience and some acceptance

You're fine. Go onto bigger and more interesting things. Congratulations!

I would make the switch if it's really what you want. You already have an A, do whatever will make you fulfilled until school starts. If anything this new job might be something to talk about in future interviews.
