What is Hopkins thinking? I doubt more than 10% of the applicants have glue available at home to paste their picture on their application. I thought about taping it on, but I don't want to risk it at this point. Plus, the mail doesn't go out until tomorrow.

Oh well, I bet this isn't the last hoop I'll have to jump through.

Off to walmart.

Yeah I just stapled my picture and decided if they want to reject me because I don't have a gluestick then I don't want to go there anyway.

I just bought a gluestick and applied it to everywhere on the picture except for the part I wrote on (they wanted name and aamc id # if I remembered correctly).

I don't think it really matters, but I guess a lot of people are afriad of not following directions properly and it'll make them look bad despite how ridiculous of a reason that is. Or perhaps they are just pissed about having to buy a gluestick cos you havent had to use one since 1st grade, and every dollar you have to spend on this absurdly expensive application process annoys you more and more. I am pissed at the people from Columbia and Yale because I have to spend $5 to send them my letters again cos they lost them.

The worst part isn't going out and buying the glue stick, but the fact that it might fall off somewhere along the way.

Oh, I am fully prepared for it to fall off the instant I put that sucker in the mail. Maybe I should just throw it in. For all they know I attempted to glue it and it just fell off. BUT, maybe they would reject me because of my ****ty glueing ability. Oh, the possible senarios.

I was actually more bothered by the fact that Hopkins wanted everyone to write their information on the back of the picture, and then have them PASTE the picture to the application. 😕 I mean, what's up with that? How do they expect to peel off the picture and read what's on the back? Needless to say, I taped my picture with the hope that I'd be making it easier to both remove the picture and read the information on the back. I don't think it's a big deal. What matters most is that they have a picture. Trust me - I am a student at Bloomberg and I personally asked the admissions office myself earlier this semester. 👍

:luck: Good luck to all!

gluestick is cheap. just get it. i put my name on the top and my ssn on the bottom and the gluepaste in the middle.

Suddenly there is a rush for over 10,000 gluesticks in the U.S. The glue industry never saw it coming... poor horses... 🙁

or go to kinko's. it's free there for people to use.

time for eckerds/rite aid/walgreens/publix run

Why on earth do they want a photo of you? All I can say is if you're butt-ugly better find a good photo... of someone else :meanie:

I think I just taped mine on. I didnt even realize it said to paste it. I dont think it really matters, and besides, I really don't trust gluesticks. from all my *childhood* experiences, it always falls off at some point.

taped it on. was interviewed. i dont think they care.

Perhaps the point of using a gluestick is so that it does fall off. If you tape it and they pull it off the application is gonna rip. Not sure why they dont just have us send it in the envelope like Columbia. Maybe they are just screwing with us.

Maybe they're seeing who follows protocols, no matter how rediculous they are 😛

wait...are you serious? we're discussing gluesticks now?

Hell yeah we're discussing gluesticks! Every dime I have to spend on this ridiculous application process infuriates me, especially for the schools that charge you $75 to spend 45 seconds filling out a sh*/ form (U Penn), and others that charge you the same amount of money to not even do that but reject you a month later (Mayo). If you are going to charge me money to do an application, at least ask me questions so that I have an opportunity to better sell myself.

Sorry if I am ranting, but filling out secondaries was really expensive and annoying. I have been done with it for over a month and am still pissed. Interviewing as been fun though.

Here's what they're thinking:

1) you're smart enough to go to hopkins
2) you took at least 1 year of Organic chemistry

therefore,

You should be able to synthesize an epoxy resin glue that will bond to the paper long enough to get it in their hands, but also separate easily enough that they will be able to read what you wrote on the back of your photo...

😀

so when you come for an interview, they can look through the one-way mirror from the adcom's office into the waiting area and identify the applicants who used gluesticks, and then laugh at them

Maybe they have you write your info on the back of the picture because in previous years, using gluestick was less than successful at keeping pictures on applications. Then when staff find pictures sticking to the floor of the admissions office at Hopkins, they would know which app it belonged to.

I agree this whole problem could be solved by stapling the d@mn picture. I admire those who are able to go out on a limb and do so...its Hopkins, so I probably would glue it with the cream of sumyungguy if they asked me to. 😀
