What are folks doing with routine drips these days with regard to D5W diluent for vasoactive drips, in the context of strict sugar control, particularly with hearts? NS? .45? No change? Why?

of the hearts i've done, haven't seen nor used any dextrose solutions. seems the favored fluid is LR. unless it's peds. even then, it's touch and go.

They are talking about fluids used to dilute certain medications where the pharmacy uses D5W by default based on manufacturers recommendations.
You don't mix your infusions using LR do you??

All our vasoactive drips are mixed in D5W and as others have stated, insulin gtt is used for glycemic control
