what are the intermediates for the glycolysis cycle?

I hear biology books have them in it or wikipedia. I dont know if its true or not.

you don't need to know the glycolysis intermediates for the DAT's. Just know how many ATP is produced, what goes into the reaction and what comes out etc. Also, glycolysis is not a cycle

thats not true. one who took the dat had a question about it.

and what are the intermediates for the kreb's cycle?? we never covered these cycles in detail.

here is what that person wrote:

i had one that asked me about the intermediates of glycolysis!

i copied this a while ago because it will help when studying for the dat.

I doubt you would get a question about glycolysis intermediates, but if you want to be safe take a look at the series of reactions taking place. Looking at the organic structure helps you have a better understanding of what is actually going on I think because it works for me.

Mainly, you should have a basic general knowledge. But I don't think you need to memorize the individual reactions of glycolysis or Krebs cycle. Know what goes in and what comes out, where it takes place, etc.

Best Wishes

Instead of posting this question on this website it would be faster to just look it up in a text or online. Also I do remember someone saying that they had an intermediate on their test. If I were you I wouldn't waste a lot of my time learning all the intermediates for glycolysis and the kreb's cycle for a question that I am sure rarely is on the test. Unless you have a lot of time to kill, then by all means go for it.

Listen Issa,

Glycolysis is in EVERY biology text book! IT IS NOT HARD TO FIND!! You can even search for it on google...Do you really expect to be spoon fed everything?

BTW: I wouldnt waste my time memorizing all the intermediates.
Good luck! :luck:

Thank you. Like I said Before. Is it that hard to look up!!!!
BTW could somebody explain to me how babies are made.
hehe

I learned a good acronym from my friend who is now at USC Med School for remembering citrus acid cycle intermediates

CIKSSFMO (pronounced kicks-fo-mo)

Citrate
Isocitrate
(alpha)-Ketoglutarate
Succinyl-coA
Succinate
Fumarate
Malate
Oxaloacetate

Works for me even though I doubt we'll be asked any questions on it.

& cis-aconitic acid :meanie: sorry to mess up your mnemonic.

Damnit...mnemonic, that's the word I was trying to think of earlier when my brain farted...but cis-aconitic acid....never heard of it, but I am going to look it up 😀

cis-aconitate is an intermediate.

citrate -> [cis-aconitate] -> isocitrate

many textbooks omit it since it's an intermediate.
