I heard that some students have had problems with gmail and getting communications from schools (interviews). I have gmail too and was worried if it has happened to others. Any suggestion would be appreciated. It would be bad if the schools send you an interview and you never come to know about it.
Thanks

I use gmail and I've had zero issues. But I do check my spam box every few days. Gmail doesn't delete the spam stuff immediately so it will sit there for you anyway.

If you're really nerv you could find out the schools' admissions emails and add them to your contacts.

What kind of problems have people been having? If it's just messages ending up in the spam folder, that's not really an issue.

Some people did not get interview invite emails (in gmail) when they were invited from schools. If you check back some older posts you can find those posts. I mean its not even in the spam so they have no idea that they have been invited. This is what worries me the most.

I use gmail, and I actually didn't receive a notification from a school. They swore they sent it out, but I never received it. I am like all you other SDNers out there and check my email (including spam) every five minutes or so (ok, a little exaggerated, but I check frequently). I called them and they resent it and I got it without a problem.

However, I DO NOT BLAME GMAIL. I believe the problem is either a user error on the part of the school or their email service not working correctly.

I mean let's be honest. Most of these emails are sent out by a middle to older-aged lady who could easily have made an error. Some email services even limit the number of recipients for any given email, so even though they might have intended to send an email to 400 people, it may have actually only gone to 300...

So I am not saying that it is DEFINITELY a user error, nor a problem with the service, I am just saying that I believe these scenarios to be more likely than there being an inherent problem with gmail. I bet that a large portion, if not the majority, of applicants use gmail and have had no problem.

So if you are really nervous about it call the schools (like I did) and they will tell you what your status is. Good Luck!

yeah thats what I heard but its scary. The problem is we cant keep calling schools to get status updates on a regular basis. Some schools give you a time frame too within which we have to schedule the interview and schools dont update regularly on AADSAS.

Which schools were these e-mails from?

Mine was from Creighton. Like I said though, no problem for me, cause I will just call every couple of weeks and check in if I don't hear anything...

I believe some had problems from Lecom or case. Not sure about others.
