Godfrey RC scores

These Godfrey passages are brutal. So far I did the first two and got a 17 both times. First time I did not finish the second test I had 5 minutes left, but did not improve my score from the first test.

I just wanted to put this thread up so (hopefully) other Godfrey users can put up some scores and feelings/ideas on RC.

I feel Godfrey will help. I never used CDR so I cant compare. Dentalworks gives an accurate review of Godfrey in his thread a while back. The passages are long, very detailed and have a lot of "tone" questions. It is considered by previous sdn post to be more challenging than the actual DAT.
I did tests 1&2 so far. I mainly used vicvipers method and tried to complete the test in the allotted hour. Since the passages are very long I felt like I was in "rush mode." The next time I do a test I'm going to ignore the time and try and get every single answer right. My goal is to eventually combine accuracy and speed to smash the real supposedly easier DAT. I got godfrey for the difficulty so I feel it will help , but i cant compare its value with CDR

A friend who was an Mcat'er gave me it and they seem to be fairly challanging but overall shorter than the DAT... at least what I see in kaplan.

Anyone have any experinece with EK reading who has taken the DAT?

The MCAT verbal is 95% inference questions. Short passages (600-800 words long) followed by 5-7 questions. The question format is very challenging, you almost have to read the author's mental mood while reading the passage to answer the questions.... Its highly recommended that you READ THE WHOLE passage before answering any question because search and destroy method will destroy your score.

The problem with MCAT verbal is, its not a very good practice for DAT's (much easier) RC section. For DAT, you just need to develop a method, practice the method, and use it on the real deal. With MCAT verbal, there is no method really, you HAVE to train yourself to read passages quickly and understand them very well, then answer the questions without referring back to the passage.

You can use EK, it won't hurt you. Its just, if your looking to develop a RC strategy, MCAT verbal isn't going to help you there (the 2 reading tests serve different goals).

Actually now that I think about it, DAT has about 70% S&D type questions and maybe 30% inference type... maybe EK would help you develop better skills for those 30%????

As far as RC practice.... I don't know many resource. I used Godfrey but I didn't like it, I only did the first 5 or 6 tests. Aside from that, I didn't do anything else (not even topscore)... I winged it (stupid of me, oh well)
