ive been studying for the last month just finished destroyer once and took all the chads quiz's for genchem n orgo. So i took a kaplan test today. N i got a 16 still after after a solid month and a half of studying. I cant believe this its driving me crazy that the only thing that went up was my pat from an 18 to a 21. What should i do i plan on going through bio destroyer and dat qvault again but gen chem is driving me insane. I just don't understand how i study for that long and see absolutely no improvement. Anybody have any suggestions

I really think if you go through the destroyer a couple of more times, especially if you go over your previous mistakes and understand what you did wrong, will improve your scores next time. I normally have to go through things more than once in order to get a good handle of them. It's all about practice and going over the material as many times as you can.

dont take kaplan to heart! its much harder than the real thing, i think on some levels even harder than the destroyer. If I were you i'd rather get Topscore, Achiever and the 2009 ADA sample exam. if you can polish off 16s to 17s in Achiever you should be hittin at least 19 to 20 on the real DAT. I dont know the correlation of Kaplan to real DAT, but I know Topscore is 1 to 2 points lower than the real DAT and Achiever is probably 3 to 4 points lower. In addition, you'll learn more and see what type of chem stuff is out there.

Remember the real exam has a lot less calculations on gchem and more concepts, (this is not true for all exam versions, but seems to be the consensus at the present moment.)

i think im gonna get topscore sometime this week if i can get the money. I realized in gen chem i get messed up wen they ask to calculate ph or doing dissociation i think im mixing up concepts or something

watch chads video or google it or read kaplan! make sure you know this stuff cold!

def. rewatch chads on fastplay or something and skim ur notes
i used to get the ph stuff all mixed up too- but then i went thru them 2-3x more and its stuck in my head now- I THINK lol

Ahhh I feel the same way! I feel like I've read my notes a million times, done destroyer (only once though), and I THINK I know my stuff but time really doesn't seem to be on my side. On top of that bio is killing me, everytime I do a practice test of some kind a new detail that I can't recall seems to pop up. So discouraging...

Jtur i feel ya man thats the same crap happening to me. Ive been spending so much time on genchem that everything else is falling apart. Im gonna watch chads vids again today hopefully something clicks

do his quizzes! they'll test if you get the concepts or not

Keep on doing destroyer problems and watching chads vids on ANYTHING that your not clear about. For Ochem, I watched the videos 3 times and did destroyer twice before I understood everything, so just keep practicing and it'll pay off

DO NOT TAKE KAPLAN TO HEART! on the third practice test i got a 13 on orgo (partly cuz i didnt finish in time) and that was a week and half before i took the real thing...i ended up with a 25 in orgo. Just make sure you know the concepts and feel confident about them, definitely do destroyer 1 or 2 times more and understand the concepts, chads quizes are really good to go over again also. Every time i finished a kaplan test i knew i could do better cuz i understood the concepts, kaplan is a lot harder. If you are worrying about reading i got 17's on kaplan and a 22 on the real thing, maybe i just got lucky but if you put in the work and feel like you can do better cuz you do understand the material, you will be ok
