I am a fourth-year student at a 4-year university. I have considered medical school for a long time, but recently, I have been reconsidering my decision to apply for various reasons. Additionally, for personal reasons, I cannot apply for a few years (maybe 2-3 years) even if I wanted to apply now.

Thus, I sought careers related to health in other industries. I did a summer internship at a ehr company that seeks to improve health outcomes for students. Of course, the main goal is to sell the product, but one of the missions of the company is to improve health data management in schools to increase safety and reduce liability.

I enjoy the work and I have been offered a part-time position for the semester. I like the work, although i don't think this is something i want to do for years and years. however, in the meantime, i will need to find work after graduating, and this can lead to things. plus, it being health related is beneficial as well (although the main goal is to sell the product). FYI, I do alot of research on potential clients, create presentations, research school health policies, and do other small things.

Anyways, to find time for this job, I will need to go part-time because finding the hours with 12 credits (4 classes) is difficult. If I do do this job, I will most likely take 9 credits (3 classes one of which is research for credit at a medical school). BTW, graduating on time is not a concern for me.

So, all in all, if I am given permission to go part time, I would end up taking 2 classes and doing research for about 8 hours or 2 days a week. Plus, I will go part-time at a job i was offered at the internship i am wrapping up.

WHAT DO ADMISSIONS OFFICES THINK OF STUDENTS GOING PART TIME? I have a GPA around 3.8 for both cumulative and science. ive been a full time student every semester thus far.

Just be prepared to answer why you were part time. As long as its a valid reason (like work) as opposed to laziness then there shouldnt be any issues

Was my answer not good enough for you?

They don't care as long as you have a valid reason to be part time. It might come up in an interview, it might not. You are working, that is a valid reason.
