Hi there, just wondering what the typical cost (including all time involved) is for a psychiatric evaluation for medication purposes if someone pays in cash?
As a psychologist, I have to estimate this cost for referrals sometimes, so it'd be nice to have a range or some numbers that are typical.

$200-$400

Insert the usual variables into that number. Some numbers could also be cutting people a discount from usual fees. Others could be much higher because the entirety of the practice is cash only and not an insurance based practice. So many variables.

Better yet, call the places you intend to refer to and ask them what their cash rates are to further facilitate your referral patterns.

This is a great question and one that's dependent on the region, speciality, and niche needs (e.g. eating disorders, BDD, child/adolescent).

In my out of network/cash-only market, I've seen rates as low as $450 for a 45-minute evaluation with a general psychiatrist and as high as $3,000 for a 3-hour evaluation with a sub-specialized child/adolescent psychiatrist.

I agree with @Sushirolls. You should reach out to psychiatrists in the area and inquire about fees. I haven't found that people are shy about it: the therapists I work with know my fees, and I know theirs.
