Going to an open house next week: submit secondary before?

I'm attending an Open House for a medical school next week. I received their secondary 2 days ago, and one of their questions is "Why us?" I feel like I will have a much better answer after I go to the open house, so will delaying this submission for a week be fine?

I don't have LORs in yet (committee packet at my university should be completed in a week and a half), so submitting early won't mean that I'm complete, anyway. I've heard whispers that schools see when you submit secondaries after they send them, and fast turn arounds show that you're more interested; is this true? If so, will waiting 1 week really hurt me?

No. Its not like you are delaying 3 months and unless your school starts going through applications and extending interview invites immediately I doubt anyone is going to notice or care how long it takes to send it in (within reason)

Ok cool, thanks for your advice! It makes sense. I'll hold off on it. My LORs aren't being sent out until mid-July either way.

Then what's the point in rushing to get it in or worrying about it. No one is going to look at your application until the LORs are in whether you submit today or in 3 weeks.

In your secondaries, tell how you were so interested in their school that you went to their open house, and that you particularly liked X, Y and Z. That both explains the 'delay' and lends more credence to your statements.

edit: Not to mention that you'll actually have something to say.

i thought you meant another type of open house

submit it when you feel you know enough about the school to best answer "why us". 1 week wont make a difference anyway
