Hey all;

Does anyone own Autopsy Pathology: A Manual and Atlas (Finkbeiner, Richard L. Davis, Philip C. Ursell)? Is it any good? Is there a better atlas of autopsy procedures/findings for routine autopsies in a hospital setting?

What about Color Atlas of the Autopsy (Scott A. Wagner)??

Thanks in advance for any words of advice when choosing an atlas.

Happy New Year. 👍

errr... Feel free to just shout out examples, too. 😉

To tell you the truth, I have never actually seen an autopsy atlas. The only atlas we have in the morgue is Netter. What is actually in them?

I'm not aware of autopsy atlases either. Half the battle in autopsy-land is getting the dissection done efficiently in a short period of time. A dissection guide or manual would be very useful. With regards to interpreting the gross findings, that comes with experience (and the help of the attending when you're a resident!).

have you checked out Forensic Pathology: Principles and Practices? Miami authors

The only good autopsy is a dead autopsy....err..did that come out right?

We used the Color Atlas in our embalming course (because we embalm post-post cases). Pretty good but I don't know if it was worth the $175 I spent on it.

When I went into observe a really interesting autopsy case (man vs. log skinner) the pathologist apparently didn't know I had observed autopsies before- he's new around here- and he had a copy of that other book and another one which I don't recall the title of. As for the quality of the "Autopsy Pathology" book, I would say it's pretty good. Don't know if this helps...
