Good Books to Get Started?

I am a bit of a nerd. I have been editing Wikipedia emergency medicine articles for the past 2 years and am currently taking an EMT class. I am starting to think about more and more about this really works and I am interested in what you guys would think some good textbooks that could help further my knowledge, probably to a premed level. Any thoughts? Thanks.

First thing: how old are you?

I am 16 at the moment.

A premed level of knowledge of medicine is about one general biology course away from your knowledge of it now. It is augmented by some physics, chemistry, and also some useless stuff.

I advise against reading a textbook at this point unless you have dual enrollment and are going to get credits for it.

Instead, I'd advise directing your attention to literature and nonfiction books by medical folks. Heck, keeping up to date on the politics and financial junk of medicine by reading newspapers would probably be a good bet.

Why are you editing Wikipedia EM articles? You're 16 you can't know more than an EM physician does

Politics and financial junk sounds interesting, thanks! Also, there are not too many emergency physicians on Wikipedia so when I can I try to pick up the slack. An example of what I have created on Wikipedia is the article on stab wounds which I created and wrote about 80% of.
