Sup everyone? Just wondering if anyone wanna recommend any good book to read. Books that are beneficial to pharm courses are great! Thanks!👍

Are you looking to read pharmacy books for leisure? Enjoy your fun while in undergrad and worry about the hard core reading until pharmacy school. I wouldn't invest in textbooks yet because they'll be outdated by the time you actually need them. You may want to get some pharmacy magazines just to be aware of new drugs/options that are out there.

I'm a P1. Yeah, I'm looking for something that is helpful in pharm course later on, but not boring to read... something interesting... I've been reading magazines since I was undergrad ( Pharmacy Times, Drug Topics, Student Pharmacist, Drug Store, US Pharmacist,...) but I still want to find more books/magazines to read. And my undergrad years were not fun at all since I had to work full time and went to school part-time. I live in a non-spontaneous town, so reading has been for my leisure. My mentor whom I admired very much for her knowledge told me to read more, n it would definitely help me later on. 🙂

"The Reader" by Berhard Schlink

It'll knock you on your ass. You can thank me later.

Here's two that I picked up recently and would recommend:

Case Studies in Pharmacy Ethics
Might seem a bit boring from the title, but it has some pretty good examples of situations you could find yourself in one day. Some are pretty clear cut on what would be the "right" thing to do, but others presented are more in the gray area and up to your own set of ethics.

On Speed: The Many Lives of Amphetamine
A rather thorough biography on the drug class. Somewhat amazing to see how it all started and the marketing that was put into it... and the lack of regulation put on it until recent times.

What's with all this "reading"

Don't you kids watch tv and play video games anymore?

It's pharmacy, no time for video games...and probably reading.. :s

Umm...are you sure? I have more free time than I know what to do with.

Of course, 1st quarter of pharmacy school everyone is a "go getter" and likes to read and study. All that changes a few months in.

Actually, it's like that for the first two weeks of each semester. "This time I'll start revising early, I'll pay more attention in class, review my labs....blah blah blah.." and ofcourse ends as it usually ends each semester. 😛

I agree with UBCmicrobi, Super Pills is a goodie.

Reading is overrated.. I would go out partying and get drunk nightly..
