Hi there, I'll keep this short. So I am really interested not only in being a physician, but being an osteopathic physician. I am attracted to the DO philosophy and style, I spoke to a few DO's and ever since been attracted to that path.
I am also really set on PCOM, for numerous reasons I wont go into them, the main question is my stats.
Please be HONEST! I am feeling nervous and concerned that my stats are not good enough, I am non traditional. I figured there must be some experienced med students out there who can give me some advice, thank you! I have NOT taken the MCAT yet, but am studying hard.

GPA: 3.45
Major GPA(psychology) : 3.75
Science GPA: 3.6 (at POST BACC for pre med classes)
300 hours volunteering hospital
50 hours shadowing DO
1 year psych research
1 year astronomy research
Internship a psychiatrists office
also was an RA for two years during college

THANKS!!!

Lol. With those stats you'd be lucky to even gain admission to a CNA program...

In all seriousness though, numbers look great. Have you taken the MCAT, and if so, what was your score?

I said I havent taken the MCAT yet, want to make sure I get a high score so I am studying hard. and you really think the numbers are good or were you serious about a cna program... I mean I know every story is different, but I have heard of 2.5's getting into med school in the US

Ah, I'm exhausted, my eyes must've overlooked where you said that in regards to the MCAT

And I was being extremely sarcastic about the CNA program, I thought it was obvious. You're fine, if you check the average numbers of DO matriculants you are above that line. As long as your MCAT score is even decent, you should be guaranteed plenty of interviews and acceptances. Don't sweat it, just keep chugging. There are plenty of applicants who would love to have your numbers

Yeah you and everyone else. Don't get your heart set on one school, especially PCOM. They get the most apps in the DO world by far and it are a total crapshoot.

Your stats are good, get a 508 and you will be good for everywhere and have a shot at all DO schools and your state MD schools.

Oh ok, I got scared there for a second. Thank you for replying and giving me some insight. I have heard mixed things. Ive heard that I am at a 50/50 level, meaning its a hit or a miss. Just that whole concept is kind of nerve racking, but hey, its med school here haha

Thanks mate! 508 is what I was thinking, but a 510 would give me more comfort...back to studying...

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you, especially with a matter such as this.

Here's a link which reviews the entire applicant pool, broken down by each category. I've found it extremely helpful: http://www.aacom.org/reports-programs-initiatives/aacom-reports/applicants

Numbers are fine for DO and maybe your state MD school as well.
