Hi,
I wrote my OAT yesterday and i just want to know what ppl think of my chances. i got a

Rc:290
Qr:290
Bio:380
Ochem:380
Gchem:370
Phy:300

Total sci: 360
AA:340

Gpa:3.4
Canadian

My Rc and Qr r 10 marks lower than average but QR was really hard. i dont know if its gona get curved. i had too many word problems, and Rc (last passage) was impossible to do.physics too had like 10 concepts and like 30 calculations. Questions were too hard overall, like you had to read the passage first then asnwer them. However, since my major is biochemistry i kinda mastered my BOi+chem sections. if it werent for the last passage i would have got a solid 320🙁

Thanks for your time

I think your chances are pretty good. Your gpa is good and your science scores are really high. If I were you, I'd call around and ask to see what your chances are at each school. Your RC and QR are below 300, but some schools may let that slide.

Thanks for the reply. I hope they do, my AA and TS are 30 point above average for many opt schools. I averaged 360s on Qr and 300 on my practice tests and english is not my first language, but seriously QR was legit hard today and I passed calculus with A+. (I definitely know math.) its just depressing to almost ace ur scinces then get 290s on RC and QR. I certainly hope they are fair, becuase i dont wana re-do 250 questions , cuz i was short of 300,just for 1-3 questions.
Thanks for feedback moomoo345

I hope you dont get those questions. Seriosuly, i did the opted test and i was like, they gota be kidding me. physics was like a walk in the park, and Qr is so for elemenrty kids. then i go and write this and bham, 290. I hope u do well. I am just wondering how they are going to curve this IF they do ,in case i got the hardest questions out there. 🙁 Ps, i am going to 3rd year so i will be applying in like 2 years.
Best of luck 😀

wait a second.... do they ever curve the score after they give you your unofficial score?? i took the opted test too and did really great, but then got a lower score on the real thing last thursday. bummer 🙁

There is no such curve.

The score you got is the score you got. that does not change.

if you are referring to the shifting of the 300 line that happened in 2009, that is not a curve. that did not change any scores in the past and simply meant that the schools would be unable to compare OAT scores before/after the shifted date.

I know it was tough, but if you really feel that you got a horrible luck of the draw, it might not be such a bad idea to retake. By that logic, the chances of having a test that is "easier" (that is...caters to your personal strengths rather than weaknesses) are fairly good. and now that you know what it's like, you can probably time yourself better and focus on the things you are weak on to tackle it better next time.

but in the end, the best thing to do is 1) make a list of schools and 2) spend 30 minutes calling all of them and asking if students with your scores have been accepted in the before.

some schools might tell you they never ever admit anyone with a sub score under 300. some schools will say, yes, they admit 290 sub scores all the time. best to get your info straight from the source

Thanks for your replies. I E-mailed afew schools and they all told me they will offer me interview with those OAT scores and GPA. One of them said they will look at my University math average since i have a 290 on QR, which i am not worried about since I got an A and A+ on my 2 advanced calculus courses. I was really worried about that 290, but seems like a 360 TS is more than good. Thank you all for your time. Good luck 😉

yeah, ur science scores are great and u got under 300 in the two 'least important' subjects. as long as the schools say they're okay with it, i think you will be fine
