I wanted to know how a good gpa but with a few bad grades is looked at. I have a 3.7 GPA but have gotten an F, D+, C, C+. And have 3 Ws.

I will be in college for another year (5th year) to gradaute but my gpa will hopefully be even higher.

How would applying with this gpa (with these bad grades) look?

When did you get the low grades and in what classes? What's your MCAT score?

You must have a lot of As....

Why don’t you try explaining the circumstances for them here and we can better judge, a lot is secondary’s will ask you to do this and I’m sure it’ll come up in an interview.

The bad grades were in science classes. I did retake them.

You'll need a better answer than that for a secondary and an interview...

What happened? You're clearly not afraid of withdrawing so why didn't you withdraw from a course you got an F in? or a D for that matter? Why did you withdraw from almost a semesters worth of classes? These details matter when evaluating your academic record

Are you calculating your GPA with grade replacement?

What Welshman said- AMCAS doesn't do grade replacement. Is the 3.7 with that factored in?

If these occurred early on, not a problem.

The 3 Ws are from courses that I found I couldn't complete before the withdrawl date. The D+, C, and C+ are from my freshmen year. The F is from this year. This semester I took many science courses, upperlevel science courses, and have recieved As. Sadly, this class I couldn't pull through. The professor was not accomadating with late work.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I calculated my GPA taking into consideration only the recent repeated courses. I know it will be a little lower.

A semester with an F, D, C, and C+ come out to roughly a 1.5 GPA

Suppose you have 7 semesters (3.5 years) of a 3.7 average. Putting in a semester of a 1.5 GPA gives:

((3.7)(7) + 1.5)/8= 3.43 GPA

The drop isn't so "little"

You will have to apply with your overall GPA as it is but your upward trend will be noticed
