Good housing options while at NYCPM

I will be a first year at NYCPM and have been looking for a 1 bedroom apt in either NY or CT. It would be much easier if I were single, but I will be living with my bf. We've been looking for a month now and we haven't found anything we are both comfortable with. If you have any suggestions please feel free to post them. Thanks in advance.

Try astoria it is very close to NYCPM. M60 bus takes around 20 minutes. It is reasonable (1100-1300 for 1 br) and safe. Check Craigs list NYC and search Astoria.

Man, apartments in NY is expensive!!! I'm from the South and everything here is cheap. What is a reasonable price for a studio or a 1 br apt in Queens or Astoria? How do you finance this?

Astoria is in Queens. You finance your living costs through scholarships if offered and loans...staffords, gradplus, and private loans (if necessary)

The south = blows = cheap
NYC = biggest city in America/cool = $$$
