I'm currently enrolled at a state school. I'm doing fairly well at the state school. I'm transferring to a much larger institution for the sole purpose of more opportunities it presents, such as more science classes, and more research opportunities. I'm taking GChem I next semester.. would it be logical to take Gchem II at a CC over the summer, then I continue with orgo at the university I'm transferring to? I was planning on continuing this journey as a non-traditional student. I was also planning on taking Calc I at a CC.

Transfer if you want. But, med schools will see right through you and think that you decided to take important prereqs at the easy CC to get an A. Do you think that looks good or bad?

If you were already at a CC and took them that's one thing, but If you go to a CC and take them that's another. In any event, you should tread lightly. From what I understand from my professors, the math classes are often more difficult to ensure the likelihood of transferring.

I just want to be on track. I don't want to graduate a year late.

Take in the summer if it keeps you on track. Just don't make a habit of taking summer classes in the summer.

I think it's perfectly fine to take pre-reqs at CC. Hopefully you also take some higher level science classes as well.

Med schools won't care too much if the classes that you took at CC was an elective, however, I would NOT recommend taking any of the "pre-med" courses such as chem, bio, etc at CC. Med schools will think you took an easy way out, because there is the reputation of science classes at CC being easier than a university class. See if you have any electives that you need for graduating that you can complete at CC, but don't take any core science classes there.

I think if you your performance elsewhere is great and you have a good/rational, not taking the easy way out, reason to take two classes at the CC, I really don't think it's going to be a huge deal. Especially if you're a nontrad, taking it over the summer, so you can dive into a more advanced chem at the big uni without losing time. If you were struggling in those types of classes and then did it, well that raises some red flags

I doubt one class at CC would be a big deal but I dont have much experience...Like make a good grade in Chem I at your current school, make a good grade at CC, then do well in orgo at the new school. I dont think thatd raise any eyebrows since you clearly know what youre doing. Do bad in any one of that sequence though and itll look worse than normal
