good interview, rejection?

Just curious if anyone knows of stories where an applicant felt like the interview went very well, yet got a rejection on Dec. 1. I'm wondering if the committee looks for certain things despite how well the interview went. Thanks.

I don't think that all schools look ONLY at your interview when determining if you get in. I know that some schools will look at your entire app+interview, so she may have gotten rejected due to something else.

I did really well at one of my interviews but I was denied in the VERY end of the cycle because my grades/science GPA weren't competitive for the school.

Sigh. Unfortunately, I think this is one of the most common reasons for post-interview rejection, other than if you flat out messed up the interview.

Even if you interview well, so will a good amount of others. So of course they will take students with great interviews and highest stats before taking someone with great interviews and ok stats.

It sounds like someone likes to worry 😉. I know waiting until December 1st is not pleasant but think positively. We're all scientists here and when you reach a conclusion in a laboratory setting nothing is 100% thats why there is a confidence interval. There are some cells, molecules, subjects etc that aren't doing the norm yet we make statements with certainty. Take dental school much the same way. As long as you interviewed and felt good about it your chances are very good. Also if you got an interview prior to December you will most likely get in somewhere. Enjoy the time before dental school don't waste it fretting about things that are out of your control. There is plenty of time in Dental school for that j/k 🙂
