Good Introductory Texts

I'm pretty sure there are other threads on this subject. The book published by AAO for medstudents and residents is a good basic book.

There are some great textbooks by Kanski which are perfect for beginners - lots of color photos

Good picture book. If you're in the mood for some lite reading, try the Yanoff and Duker Ophthalmology.

If I were to buy one book to try and read during intern year, which one would you guys recommend?

Personally, I would relax and enjoy your year and get step 3 out of the way. I don't see any need to start reading until maybe May. I spent the last few months reading the Kanski book from cover to cover and it helped me hit the ground running. I think anything done earlier would have been wasted energy.

can anyone provide a link for a textbook for basic ophthalmology? thanks
