Good morning sdn, I had the honor to be admitted to Stanford recently, and it has been my top choice for awhile. As someone who is potentially interested in Neurosurgery, I wonder if anyone could offer some insights on which faculty member should I work with in the future. Thank you!

In the context of research? Look for faculty who do research in areas you care about, whether that be basic, translational or clinical.

As a threshold matter, neurosurgery is a very specialized area and a tough residency to land. You might want to wait until you get into medical school and gain some experience with various specialities before focussing narrowly in this area. That said, if you’re bound and determined to seek out faculty members in this area, you could contact Stanford Medical School’s neurosurgery interest group to see if there’s anyone on the faculty with a project that’s appropriate for an undergrad. Good luck!
